June 9, 2016: Guy Ryder, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) met with representatives of the Caribbean Delegation on Tuesday June 07, 2016 at the 105th Session of the International Labour Conference, which is currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Minister of Labour and Small Enterprise Development, Senator the Honourable Jennifer Baptiste-Primus is leading Trinidad and Tobago’s Delegation at the Conference. Trinidad and Tobago is the only Caribbean country that sits on the ILO’s Governing Body, where its executive meets three times a year, in March, June and November.
A critical role of the Governing Body is to take decisions on ILO policy, decide the agenda of the International Labour Conference, adopt the draft Programme and Budget of the Organization for submission to the Conference, and elect the Director-General.
