Italy is interested in working with Barbados in the fashion industry.
This was disclosed recently by Italy’s special envoy to the Caribbean, Paolo Serpi, during a visit to Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr. Esther Byer Suckoo, at her office in the Warrens Office Complex.
Mr. Serpi also disclosed that at present over 1000 businesses in Italy are working successfully in the fashion industry.
Dr. Byer Suckoo said that in exploring this area it would also involve the Ministry of Labour, and it would be “quite exciting” to tap into this industry.
Mr. Serpi also expressed interest in collaborating in other areas, namely climate change, renewable energy and tackling organised crime.
