The public is invited to participate in Cyber Security Awareness activity day at the Police Officers’ Club on Hope Road in St. Andrew on October 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The day’s activities will get under way with an opening address by Minister of Science, Energy and Technology, Dr. the Hon. Andrew Wheatley, and will include demonstrations from representatives of technology companies, presentations and panel discussions.
Head of the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) in the Ministry, Dr. Moniphia Hewling, said that attendees will be able to view hacking simulations and receive information on how to protect themselves and secure their devices while using the Internet.
She said the event is open to anyone “who uses the Internet, people who bank online, who use social media, who use their phones to access the Internet”.
Among the participating entities are Microsoft, Fortinet and Carbon Black.
The day is part of activities being undertaken by CIRT in observation of global Cyber Security Awareness Month in October.
